Born in Algeria, Boufennara Amina is an emerging artist based in Toronto. She is a recent Ocadu graduate with a bachelor’s degree in fine art majoring in drawing and painting. Coming from a mixed Amazigh background from North Africa, her recent work explores themes of self identity, ancestry, immigration and folklore stories. Finding a middle ground between two cultures, she traverses to a new found balance amidst her art that allows her to be authentic in telling her story and those of her ancestors. Her art explores the infusion of traditional arts, craftsmanship and music that she is embedded in into the culture she was raised in.
